This Italian cream soda syrup recipe can be used to make delicious Italian cream sodas, or you can omit the half and half & heavy whipping cream for a traditional cream soda.
Ingredients
1c sugar
1c water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract
2 tbsp. half & half OR 1 tsp. heavy whipping cream
Cream soda syrup prep
- Put sugar & 1/4c water in medium saucepan
- Stir mixture until sugar is dissolved
- Heat mixture over medium-high until the sugar is caramelized
- Slowly add the water and lemon juice
- Add vanilla extract & remove from heat
- Pour into 1 quart mason jar & save for up to two weeks
- Fill a glass 3/4 full with ice
- Add 3 tbsp. syrup
- Add half & half or whipping cream
- Fill glass with carbonated water
- Gently stir
